Thailand 2026 IMF, WB Annual Meetings

Thailand 2026 IMF, WB Annual Meetings

The 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group (WBG) will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, during October 12-18, 2026. Holding the Annual Meetings in Bangkok underscores Thailand’s role as a regional and global convening hub, reflecting its economic resilience, institutional progress, and sustained deep engagement with international partners over the past three decades. The country last hosted the Annual Meetings in 1991. Hosting the Meetings again after a long interval highlights how the country—and the broader region—has advanced and recognizes Asia’s central role in shaping today’s global economic and financial stability agenda.

The Board of Governors of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group (WBG) hold these meetings to bring together central bankers, ministers of finance and development, private sector executives, representatives from civil society organizations and think tanks, and academics to discuss issues of global concern, including the world economic outlook, global financial stability, poverty eradication, inclusive economic growth and job creation.

The Annual Meetings are customarily held in Washington D.C. for two consecutive years, and then every third year in a member country. This practice reflects the global nature of the membership, fosters closer engagement with local and regional stakeholders, and offers the host country a platform to engage with the international economic community.
