LTTE supporters acknowledge Prabhakaran’s death after years of denial

An Indian website reported this week that on August 2, former Tamil Tigers and Sri Lankan Tamils living in western capitals will gather in Switzerland to publicly acknowledge for the first time that LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran is dead.

They will gather in Basel, Switzerland, for the meeting to acknowledge Prabhakaran’s death, according to federal.com.

The acknowledgement comes nearly 15 years after Mr. Prabhakaran’s death, which has been continuously denied by his supporters, some of whom illegally raised vast sums of money in the West from gullible fellow Tamils under the pretext that the LTTE leader was still alive, the website reported.

The ‘Prabhakaran Memorial Uprising Forum,” a newly formed body coordinating the event, is primarily driven by former LTTE leaders based in Britain, Switzerland, and Australia, along with some other people from the Tamil diaspora, the website reported.

பல வருட மறுப்புக்குப் பிறகு பிரபாகரனின் மரணத்தை விடுதலைப் புலி ஆதரவாளர்கள் ஒப்புக்கொள்கிறார்கள்.

ஆகஸ்ட் 2 ஆம் தேதி, முன்னாள் தமிழ் புலிகளும் மேற்கு நாடுகளின் தலைநகரங்களில் வசிக்கும் இலங்கை தமிழர்களும் சுவிட்சர்லாந்தில் ஒன்றுகூடி விடுதலைப் புலிகளின் தலைவர் வேலுப்பிள்ளை பிரபாகரன் இறந்துவிட்டார் என்பதை முதன்முறையாக பகிரங்கமாக ஒப்புக்கொள்வார்கள் என இந்த வாரம் ஒரு இந்திய வலைத்தளம் செய்தி வெளியிட்டுள்ளது,

பிரபாகரனின் மரணத்தை ஒப்புக்கொள்ளும் கூட்டத்திற்காக அவர்கள் சுவிட்சர்லாந்தின் பாசலில் கூடுவார்கள் என்று federal.com என்கிற இந்தியத் தளம் தெரிவித்துள்ளது.

திரு. பிரபாகரனின் மரணத்திற்கு கிட்டத்தட்ட 15 ஆண்டுகளுக்குப் பிறகு இந்த ஒப்புதல் வந்துள்ளது. இது அவரது ஆதரவாளர்களால் தொடர்ந்து மறுக்கப்பட்டு வந்தது. அவர்களில் சிலர் எல்.ரீ.ரீ.ஈ தலைவர் இன்னும் உயிருடன் இருக்கிறார் என்ற சாக்குப்போக்கின் கீழ் மேற்கத்திய நாடுகளில் ஏமாளிகளான சக தமிழர்களிடமிருந்து சட்டவிரோதமாக பெரும் தொகையை திரட்டியதாக வலைத்தளம் செய்தி வெளியிட்டுள்ளது.

இந்த நிகழ்வை ஒருங்கிணைக்கும் புதிதாக உருவாக்கப்பட்ட அமைப்பான 'பிரபாகரன் நினைவு எழுச்சி மன்றம்', முதன்மையாக பிரிட்டன், சுவிட்சர்லாந்து மற்றும் ஆஸ்திரேலியாவை தளமாகக் கொண்ட முன்னாள் விடுதலைப் புலிகள் தலைவர்களாலும், தமிழ் புலம்பெயர்ந்தோரைச் சேர்ந்த சிலராலும் இயக்கப்படுகிறது என்று வலைத்தளம் தெரிவித்துள்ளது.
