WANA (Aug 05) – A knowledgeable source said that a potential agreement between Iran and Oman on arrangements for the passage of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz would not be linked to the immediate reopening of the strategic waterway.

The source said discussions on vessel transit arrangements through the Strait of Hormuz are being held solely between Iran and Oman and have no connection with the United States.

The source also stated that if what Iran considers U.S. violations continue, the Strait of Hormuz will not be reopened even if Iran and Oman reach an agreement.
